Abstract

The Rebut Dandang tradition is a cultural practice of the Bekasi people that holds layers of meaning deeper than just a communal ceremony. This study aims to interpret the philosophical meaning of this tradition and explain its relevance to modern social life. The study uses a qualitative, descriptive-interpretive approach with data obtained through literature studies, cultural observations, semi-structured interviews, and documentation of symbols and practices of traditional implementation. The results show that the dandang does not only function as a ritual object, but also symbolizes sustenance, life's struggle, blessings, and social ties. The process of fighting represents human hard work in obtaining life, while the distribution of the results emphasizes the values of solidarity, cooperation, and social justice. This tradition also contains spiritual values through expressions of gratitude to God and respect for ancestors as guardians of cultural memory. Thus, Rebut Dandang remains relevant as a medium for character education, strengthening local identity, and preserving Bekasi's cultural wisdom.
