Abstract

Interpretasi haji sangatlah bermakna di kalangan masyarakat bugis. Haji diinterpretasikan ke dalam kehidupan sosial masyarakat dan cara berpakaian digunakan untuk merujuk kepada simbol kehajian. Perilaku berpakaian adalah interpretasi makna dari simbol haji yang melekat pada masyarakat bugis. Semua pakaian dari berbagai macam bentuknya adalah simbolik. Pakaian adalah salah satu cara melambangkan status sosial seseorang dalam masyarakatnya. Gelar haji bagi masyarakat bugis pada umumnya dianggap sebagai simbol yang berharga dalam status sosial.
