Abstract

Artikel ini menjelaskan mengenai pandangan filsafat progresivisme tentang peserta didik. Filsafat progresivisme memandang bahwa pendidikan bukan hanya sekedar mentransfer pengetahuan kepada peserta didik, melainkan melatih kemampuan dan keterampilan mereka dengan memberikan rangsangan yang tepat. Dalam bidang pendidikan, filsafat ini dipelopori oeh tokoh pendidikan, John Dewey, dengan jargon utamanya pendidikan sebagai instrumen rekonstruksi sosial. Filsafat progresivisme memiliki prinsip bahwa peserta didik seharusnya di-didik untuk menjadi manusia yang dapat memahami kehidupan di masa mendatang. Untuk itu, peserta didik hendaknya dibiarkan untuk bebas, aktif, berkreativitas, dan berdinamisasi sesuai dengan konteks kehidupannya
