Plagiarism Policy
Jurnal Ilmiah Mandala Education (JIME) is committed to maintaining academic integrity and publishing only original scholarly works.
Plagiarism in any form constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable. Authors are responsible for ensuring that their submitted manuscripts are original and properly cite all sources used.
Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:
-
Copying text, ideas, images, tables, or data from other sources without proper acknowledgment.
-
Presenting another person's work as one's own.
-
Self-plagiarism or redundant publication without proper citation.
-
Paraphrasing substantial portions of another work without attribution.
-
Submitting manuscripts that substantially overlap with previously published or submitted works.
Similarity Screening
All manuscripts submitted to JIME are screened using Turnitin plagiarism detection software before entering the peer-review process.
The similarity screening is conducted to identify potential plagiarism, duplication, and improper citation practices.
Similarity Threshold
JIME generally requires that manuscripts maintain a similarity index of no more than 20%, excluding references, quotations, and commonly used phrases.
The editorial team evaluates similarity reports on a case-by-case basis. A low similarity score does not automatically guarantee originality, and a high similarity score does not automatically indicate plagiarism.
Editorial Actions
If plagiarism or unethical text overlap is detected, the editorial office may take one or more of the following actions:
-
Request revisions and proper citation.
-
Reject the manuscript.
-
Suspend the review process pending clarification.
-
Retract a published article if plagiarism is discovered after publication.
Serious cases of plagiarism may be reported to the author's institution or affiliated organization when appropriate.
Author Responsibilities
Authors must:
-
Submit only original work.
-
Properly acknowledge all sources.
-
Cite previously published works accurately.
-
Obtain permission for copyrighted materials when required.
-
Ensure that all co-authors have approved the submitted manuscript.
Post-Publication Discovery
If plagiarism is identified after publication, JIME reserves the right to issue corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions in accordance with publication ethics standards and COPE guidelines.
JIME is committed to preserving the integrity of the scholarly record and promoting ethical research and publication practices.
